HISTORY
Jensen & Halstead Ltd. is the oldest architectural firm in Chicago. The firm was founded in 1868 by William Le Baron Jenney, who is most famous for his design of the Home Insurance Building, the first major structure to use an iron framework as its sole means of support. In the late 1800s, many notable buildings were designed and executed by Jenney and his colleagues. Several of these are now historic landmarks, including Leiter II, the Ludington Building and the Manhattan Building. The firm has evolved over the years, but the legacy of these pioneer architects lives on in the innovative design solutions being practiced by the firm today.
